CONSUMERS POWER SETS ALL-TIME MONTHLY, WEEKLY ELECTRIC SENDOUT RECORDS

 JACKSON, Mich., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Electric sendout by Consumers Power Company during August was the highest for any month in the utility's history. The total amount of power delivered during August, 3.2 million megawatt-hours (MWh), surpassed the former all-time monthly record of 3.1 million MWh set for July of 1993.
 Consumers Power has established monthly electric sendout records in 1993 for January, February, March, April, July and August.
 An all-time weekly electric sendout record of 773,836 MWh was set for the week ending Aug. 28, 1993. The record surpassed the former weekly mark of 761,197 MWh set for the week ending August 6, 1988.
 Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving 6 million of the state's 9 1/2 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
