CONSUMERS POWER REPORTS PHONE CENTER OUTAGE

 ROYAL OAK, Mich., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers Power Company customers in southeastern Michigan who attempt to contact the utility may be unable to do so because of a phone center outage caused by an MCI equipment failure, which occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m.
 The outage is preventing Consumers Power customers from reaching the utility through its toll-free telephone number. Customers who wish to report no heat or an emergency situation such as a gas leak should call the following phone numbers in the order listed below until further notice. Collect calls will be accepted.

 2. 1-810-549-5000
 3. 1-810-549-5009
 4. 1-800-452-9524
 "We ask customers with billing inquiries or service requests to refrain from calling at this time so that we can answer all emergency calls on a timely basis. As soon as our phone center becomes operational, we will once again provide full service to all our customers via our regular 1-800-477-5050 telephone number. Please listen to your local radio/TV stations for updated information, and thank you for your patience and cooperation," said Carl L. English, vice president of energy distribution services for Consumers Power Company.
