CONSUMER FRAUD ACTION BROUGHT AGAINST SEARS, ROEBUCK & CO. IN HAVERFORD, PA.
CONSUMER FRAUD ACTION BROUGHT AGAINST SEARS, ROEBUCK & CO. IN HAVERFORD, PA. HAVERFORD, Pa., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A class action lawsuit was filed today by a New Jersey consumer against Sears, Roebuck & Co. (NYSE: S), on behalf of persons who paid Sears for unnecessary and/or over-priced automotive repair services, including installation of parts that were not necessary, or who were charged for automotive repair services that were not in fact performed, it was announced today. The suit seeks certification of a class of all customers of Sears residing in states other than California (where another suit on behalf of that state's residents was initiated earlier this month). According to Richard D. Greenfield, of the Haverford firm of Greenfield & Chimicles, the suit was filed in New Jersey Superior Court -- Camden County. The suit alleges that Sears Auto Centers sold customers parts and services that they did not need for their automobiles and unjustly marked-up the prices for parts sold in connection with the repairs. The suit demands, among other things, that the defendants make full restitution of all monies wrongfully obtained as a result of their wrongful act and practices. /delval/ -0- 6/29/92 /CONTACT: Lisa J.
