Expecting 1,000 more students to enroll in the Palmdale School District The Palmdale School District is a school district that serves a major part of the city of Palmdale, California (USA).

The Palmdale School District was first formed in 1888. Approximately 28,000 students are enrolled in the Palmdale School District.
in the coming school year, officials say a new school being built in east Palmdale will help prevent further overcrowding overcrowding

Crews have started grading work for Cimarron School, located at 45th Street East and Avenue S-4, and construction is expected to be completed by July 1997.

``We will grow another 1,000 students,'' said Carolyn Hansen, assistant superintendent Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was a rank used by police forces in the British Empire. It was usually the lowest rank that could be held by a European officer, most of whom joined the police at this rank.  of business services. ``When we build a school, it keeps us even with the growth. That's why we have a need to keep up with the growth.''

To cope with the influx of students in 1996-97, the district is creating more classrooms at eight schools by walling off hallways under a $490,000 project.

Cimarron School, being built to accommodate 1,000 students, will serve an area that now sends its youngsters to Buena Vista and Barrel Springs schools, Hansen said.

District enrollment is expected to keep growing by 1,000 students annually - or enough to fill a new school each year - for the next six or seven years, then taper off Verb 1. taper off - end weakly; "The music just petered out--there was no proper ending"

While home construction has slowed tremendously since the late 1980s, school officials say homes once occupied by adults or by families with teen-agers are being filled by families with younger children - sometimes by two or more families to a home.

Cimarron School will be built with $6.4 million from the $3 billion state school construction bond issue approved in March by California voters.

The bond issue also will provide $15 million for a proposed intermediate school called Shadow Hills and $10 million for the proposed Quail quail, common name for a variety of small game birds related to the partridge, pheasant, and more distantly to the grouse. District officials are considering putting a local school bond construction measure before voters in March, following the narrow defeat of a $81 million bond measure last month.
