The 30-month project will eventually bring the new bridge, freeway ramps and widened roadways, officials said. It comes as area commuters recently weathered a construction project farther south along the freeway at the Victoria Avenue ramp and as another project gears up at Johnson Drive. ``These are long-awaited projects,'' said project spokesman Richard Newsham Richard Newsham (?—1743) was an English inventor. In 1721 he took out a patent on the first American fire engine pump. The engine had two single-acting pumps and an air vessel placed in a tank which formed the frame of the machine. . ``The reason why they're they're Contraction of they are. they're be all happening at once is because the state is funding them.'' Construction is finishing up on the $15 million Victoria Avenue project, which involves roadway widening at that ramp. In coming weeks, work is to get under way on the Johnson Drive project, a $10 million, 11-month project to create an underpass below the Union Pacific rail line in the area's auto center. While traffic delays are expected with the Seaward Avenue project, officials said it was designed to minimize traffic troubles. ``The same number of traffic lanes are being opened the whole time,'' Newsham said. ``Obviously, people just need to slow down and be aware of the construction.'' |
