LA JOLLA La Jolla (lə hoi`yə), on the Pacific Ocean, S Calif., an uninc. district within the confines of San Diego; founded 1869. The beautiful ocean beaches, in particular La Jolla shores and Black's Beach, and sea-washed caves attract visitors and , Calif. -- CONSOR announced that it will manage the sale of the intangible assets of the Morgan Confections Company ("MCC (The Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation, Austin, TX) The first high-tech research and development consortium in the U.S., created in 1982 by leading companies within the electronics industry. "), which filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation earlier this year.

MCC manufactured nationwide-known brands such as Allen Wertz, Miss Saylor's, and Simply Sugar Free. Although Morgan Confections is a new company, confectionery manufacturing is still an art of Allen Wertz, which has a been around since 1937, and it still adheres to their traditional formulation, which makes these candies and chocolates so unique.

MCC was acquired by Knudsen's Candy in 2001, and was owned in part by them and Smith Whiley, a private equity firm. In their last full year of operations they generated revenues in excess of $21 million. Under the Allen Wertz name, Morgan Confections produced a variety of candies and chocolates. Simply Sugar Free was introduced into the U.S. confectionery market several years ago, and has enjoyed great success. In addition to those two product lines, it also manufactured functional food bars and co-packed products for more than 50 companies, including Nestle, Starbucks, NSpire and Briteway Foods.

From November 2002 to June 2004, MCC doubled its business, due in part to strong demand for its products and its status as a private-label, co-packer of functional foods. Their confections can be found in approximately 1,200 stores across America. Since 2001, MCC has focused on enhancing the visibility of Allen Wertz and Simply Sugar Free across the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
