Dale Earnhardt Jr. obliged with his first bad race in the Chase format, finishing 33rd at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia last Sunday.

Junior fell one spot in the standings, from second to third, and opened the way for Gordon to move up as Busch's closest competitor.
