Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, - Congress has approved an additional $1 million for Santa Clarita's Cross Valley Connector, a highway now under construction that will link Interstate 5 to the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. . The Senate and House of Representatives agreed last week to help fund the project in their conference report for the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, Judiciary and District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). Appropriations Act. The conference report is the result of negotiations between the two bodies in which differences in their bills are ironed out. The conference report was approved by the House and awaits a vote by the Senate before going to the president to sign. The $245 million Cross Valley Connector will consist of 8.5 miles of new six- and eight-lane arterial roadways, bridges, grade-separated crossings and intersections. The project is expected to significantly ease traffic in and around the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. . Golden Valley Road, including a new bridge under construction over Soledad Canyon Soledad Canyon is a long narrow canyon / valley located in Los Angeles County, California between the cities of Palmdale and Santa Clarita. Soledad Canyon contains the localities of Vincent, Acton, Ravenna, and Agua Dulce. Road, and Newhall Ranch Road make up the connector. The bulk of the funding is coming from developers with contributions from the city of Santa Clarita, the state, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the federal government. The bill also includes $545,000 to widen Rancho Vista Boulevard in Palmdale, $250,000 for a $10.5 million baseball complex on the former Antelope Valley fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. and $100,000 for Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Club for a new roof and a heating and air conditioning system.
