Though the conference will cover a wide range of business topics, much of the focus this year will be on the financial crisis that has roiled much of Asia's economy, said conference director Susan Bradforth. ``This year the Asian financial crisis will be very high on the agenda,'' said Bradforth, also the associate director of the business school's International Business Education and Research Program. ``That's going to be the overriding theme at this conference.'' Six special sessions have been added to address the issue, she said. The annual Asia/Pacific Business Outlook, now in its 11th year, is run jointly by the IBEAR and the United States Department of Commerce The United States Department of Commerce is the Cabinet department of the United States government concerned with promoting economic growth. It was originally created as the United States Department of Commerce and Labor on February 14, 1903. . The conference typically attracts 100 speakers and 300 attendees, Bradforth said. More than 125 workshops and seminars will be conducted over the three days at the university's Davidson Conference Center. It will begin today with a panel discussion featuring Aaron, USC vice provost Richard Drobnick and John Wolf, an ambassador to APEC APEC in full Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Trade group established in 1989 in response to the growing interdependence of Asia-Pacific economies and the advent of regional economic blocs (such as the European Union and the North American Free Trade Area) for the U.S. Department of State.
