semiconductor solutions and home network processors to create comprehensive system solutions for VoIP-capable terminals. To help manufacturers reduce product development cycles, Conexant also offers a suite of reference designs based on the CX9041X product family.

"Our next-generation voice coprocessors provide higher levels of integration and features, enabling manufacturers to cost-effectively deliver increased functionality in their VoIP product offerings," said Zeev Collin, vice president of Voice Access Products for Conexant. "We are committed to evolving our VoIP roadmap in combination with our rich portfolio of access, networking and media processing technologies to provide users with a broad set of integrated IP-based voice, data and media features."

Conexant has a long heritage in voice band processing, and holds an extensive intellectual property portfolio in voice processing and coding technology. The company's field-proven voice technology has enabled more than 100 million voice/data modems, and has been incorporated in millions of voice ports and wireless cellular telephones. The company's VoIP products include voice coprocessors and codecs for the easy addition of voice to networked devices, complete system solutions including network processors, and a suite of application software and board reference designs.

Voice coprocessors compress and decompress voice packets from telephone lines or handsets to a host network processor over a parallel interface bus. The host processor can be one of several home network processors offered by Conexant, including the CX82100 and the CX86202, or one of the company's ADSL router solutions.

Conexant's CX9041X coprocessors are offered in configurations capable of processing one or two independent voice channels concurrently with caller ID. Each channel can run compression and decompression algorithms according to the ITU-T See ITU.
