Conexant has successfully demonstrated V.92 interoperability with Cisco, Lucent Technologies, Nortel and 3Com, major suppliers of remote access server equipment, and will begin shipping its V.92-based chipsets to customers this year. "The V.92 standard is a key enabler for enhancing and simplifying dial-up modem access, while providing an interoperable platform for enhancing the user experience of Internet connectivity." Conexant contributed key technologies to the new V.92 dial-up modem specification, which significantly reduces the time it takes to establish a dial-up connection, improves upload rates and adds the ability to receive and initiate phone calls during a dial-up modem session. V.92 encompasses a number of specifications including QuickConnect(TM), which dramatically improves how quickly users can connect with their Internet Service Provider Internet service provider (ISP) Company that provides Internet connections and services to individuals and organizations.
