THOUSAND OAKS - The Village Voices Chorale will raise the curtain at 8:30 tonight on the second performance of the two-night run of ``An American Sampler'' at the Forum Theatre of the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks.

Several small ensembles will sing and dance to music by American composers, including Duke Ellington's ``It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing),'' at the group's 27th Spring Concert.

Entertainment will include country music and line dancing, a Wild West show and, for children, a petting zoo, hayrides and a chance to dress western. There will also be cowboy poetry readings.

A barbecue lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for $5 a person. The library is at 40 Presidential Drive near Simi Valley.

Brush fire doused behind college

SANTA PAULA - Firefighters extinguished a brush fire behind St. Thomas Aquinas College For other schools named after St. Thomas Aquinas, see .
Saint Thomas Aquinas College is a private four-year, liberal arts college in Rockland County, New York that occupies a forty-eight acre campus.
 on Friday.

The fire, near the college on Highway 150 between Santa Paula and Ojai, had spread across a quarter of an acre when it was reported about 9:40 a.m. The fire burned 2 acres before firefighters contained it about 10:30 a.m., Ventura County fire officials said.

Because the fire came in the first month of the volatile brush fire season, firefighters were called in from the county, the California Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service.
