THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Complaining that he has lost his privacy and that his business is suffering, Lance Winslow said Friday that he is ending his campaign for one of two City Council seats on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Winslow, 32, owner of The Car Wash Guys, twice has run for a seat on the City Council. His name will remain on the election ballot.

Remaining candidates are incumbent Michael Markey, a Compton police homicide detective; Dan Del Campo, a manufacturer's representative; Marshall Dixon, a retired business executive; Norman Jackson The name Norman Jackson can refer to several notable figures in history:
  • Thomas Norman Jackson - World War I British Army lance corporal
  • Norman Cyril Jackson - World War II Royal Air Force sergeant
; Tom Lee, a computer systems analyst; Planning Commissioner Linda Parks; Nick Quidwai, in marketing management; Ramaul Rush, a children's court investigator; and David Seagal, a civil engineer and businessman.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - A fire and explosion that destroyed a billiard hall this week remained under investigation Friday, a Los Angeles County Fire Department Not to be confused with Los Angeles Fire Department.

Las Virgenes board OKs teacher pact

CALABASAS - The Las Virgenes Unified School District Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) is a K-12 school district in north-west Los Angeles County, USA consisting of 14 public schools in the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, and several small portions of the West Hills section of Los Angeles.  board has unanimously approved a three-year teacher contract that includes a 4.29 percent raise in the first year.

The raise will be retroactive to July 1, when the previous three-year contract expired. The contract received overwhelming union approval, with a vote of 334-10 in favor of it, and the school board took final action Tuesday.

The contract provides cost-of-living increases in the second year and third years, plus an additional 1 percent in the second. Teachers who serve as coaches also received a stipend raise, and a new lead-teacher position was created in the elementary school elementary school: see school. . Each lead teacher will get an additional $581.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - The Westlake Village Chamber of Commerce has application forms for those interested in entering American classic, antique and sports cars in the 11th annual Westlake Village Auto Show, to be held Oct. 6. The chamber office is at 30893 Thousand Oaks Blvd. The auto show will be at the Plaza Centre at the Ventura Freeway and Westlake Boulevard. Registration costs $20.
