CONEJO VALLEY: BRIEFLY : TRIAL SET FOR FORMER YOUTH PROGRAM HEAD.


VENTURA - The former director of Moorpark Project Pride was ordered Monday to stand trial on charges of having unlawful sex with a minor.

During a preliminary hearing, Judge Steven Hintz ruled there was sufficient evidence to try Alberto Rios, 25, on charges that he committed the sexual acts with a 17-year-old girl affiliated with the youth program.

Rios, 25, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of committing an unlawful sexual act on a minor and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse sexual intercourse

. Prosecutors said the sexual encounters occurred on two separate days in May.

Rios faces trial in Ventura County Superior Court because the four offenses are charged as felonies and not misdemeanors.

 senior center offers knitting lessons

SIMI VALLEY - Free knitting lessons will be offered on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi. Classes teach the fundamentals of knitting. To sign up, call the senior center at 583-6363.

Country line dance planned at center

SIMI VALLEY - A six-week country line dance class will be taught at the Simi Valley Senior Center on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. beginning Jan. 27. Fee is $15. Participants must register in advance at the Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  Recreation and Park District. Current and classic line dances will be taught. No partners required. Western stunt man to share experiences

SIMI VALLEY - The American Association American Association refers to one of the following professional baseball leagues:
