Haas, 53, who lives in Ojai Valley with his wife, began his career as an officer with the Ventura Police Department in 1967. He joined the District Attorney's Office as a criminal investigator in 1980. Haas now supervises the Major Crimes-Trial Preparation Unit for the office's Bureau of Investigation.
