OJAI - Ventura County sheriff's deputies have arrested an Ojai man on suspicion of selling marijuana marijuana or marihuana, drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa (see hemp) or C. indica; the latter species can withstand colder climates.  and methamphetamine methamphetamine (mĕth'ămfĕt`əmēn): see amphetamine; methedrine. .

David Wayne (January 30 1914 - February 9 1995) was a Tony Award-winning American actor with a career spanning nearly half a century.
 Jost, 40, at his home Monday, ending a two-month investigation prompted by information that drugs were being sold from the residence in the 1200 block of Sierra Court.

After obtaining a search warrant, police said, they searched the home and found evidence that drugs were being weighed and packaged there. Drugs also were seized with an estimated street value of $1,000.

Jost was being held in the Ventura County Jail in lieu of Instead of; in place of; in substitution of. It does not mean in addition to.  $20,000 in bail.

Library to train volunteer tutors

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Training for volunteers interested in tutoring English-speaking adults for the Ventura County Library's adult literacy program are scheduled for Simi Valley this month.

Tutoring classes will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. July 15 and 16 at the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Tutors will spend about one hour twice a week helping adults on waiting lists become more literate. Tutors are needed in Simi Valley, Ventura, Oxnard, Moorpark, Fillmore and Camarillo.

Interface Children to hold orientation

CAMARILLO - Interface Children, Family Services will have an orientation Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to introduce prospective volunteers to the opportunities available through the nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

An orientation meeting regarding the program is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 17 at the Senior Nutrition Center, 2220 Ventura Blvd.

AGOURA HILLS - The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area: see National Parks and Monuments (table).  has published its summer edition of ``Outdoors,'' a small pamphlet describing the various activities offered by the National Park Service.

The calendar is available for free and can be obtained by calling (818) 597-1036, Ext. 201, or by writing: Outdoors, Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, 30401 Agoura Road, Suite 100, Agoura Hills, CA 91301.

Visitors also can pick up the pamphlet at the National Park Service Information Center, which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and holidays.
