The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Alamo Street and Sequoia Avenue. Malgren said the driver of the truck, an 18-year-old Simi Valley resident, proceeded prematurely with a left-hand turn and hit Lapp's car.

Both drivers were injured. The 18-year-old motorist, whose name was not released by police Monday, was treated at the scene while Lapp was taken to Simi Valley Hospital.

Due to Lapp's death, the case will be sent to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office for review this week, Malgren said.

``The DA will decide if it is worth pursuing a manslaughter charge,'' he said, adding that the District Attorney's Office could pursue such a charge as a misdemeanor.
