Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - The first class of the Ventura County Leadership Academy graduated during a ceremony at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre.  on July 19.

During the ceremony, the class presented its final project on the topic of the county's future water needs. The class was assigned the task of doing research on water resources and developing plans to meet future needs.

Optimist Club plans golf tournament

THOUSAND OAKS - The Optimist Club of Conejo is sponsoring its 29th annual golf tournament Sept. 30 at North Ranch Country Club.

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

Notes:
Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.
 uses money raised from the event to support local youths with scholarships, the Manna food bank, safety programs, the Optimist Boys Homes and other charities.

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

An orientation program is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 15 on the Ventura campus, Room 170. The program is designed for working adults, with courses offered in the evening.

Applicants must take the Graduate Management Admissions Test to be considered for admission, which will be offered only Oct. 19 this fall. The registration deadline is Sept. 13.

Yacht club to hold annual fund-raiser

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - The Westlake Yacht Club is sponsoring its third annual sail-a-thon to benefit the Casa Pacifica Children's Crisis Care Center in Camarillo.

The event is a 10-hour marathon with teams of boats sailing laps around a designated course on Westlake Lake from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Awards will be given in a junior division, an adult division and in electric boats.

Skippers will seek pledges or donations based on the number of laps they sail. In the first year, the event raised about $14,000; last year the group raised $12,500. For more information, call (818) 879-0612.

Red Cross to offer golf, tennis event

VENTURA - The American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  of Ventura County is sponsoring a ``Million Dollar Golf Classic'' and tennis tournament Aug. 26 at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.

Organizers hope the tournament, co-sponsored by AT&T Wireless and radio station KNJO-FM (92.7), will bring in $25,000 for the Red Cross.

Park schedules free teen concerts

MOORPARK - Free teen concerts featuring Ocho-X, Nuclear Society and The Left Overs are scheduled for this summer at Arroyo Vista Community Park, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road.

Concerts are scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 17, and from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 30. Music includes Latin, alternative, rock and punk.

The concerts are sponsored by the Moorpark Community Services Department. Refreshments and food will be available for a minimal fee.

The department is now seeking bands interested in performing for the Aug. 17 and Aug. 30 shows.
