Hearings delayed in bomb plot case

VENTURA - Concerned about a potential conflict of interest, Ventura County Superior Court judges have again postponed hearings involving a Sherman Oaks man accused of plotting to blow up the courthouse.

Judge Vincent O'Neill delayed a decision Wednesday into whether he or any other judge can hear a bail request by Frank Cockrell Jr., 49, since they were possible targets of the alleged attack. He may issue a ruling Friday, he said.

Cockrell remains in custody without bail for allegedly paying an undercover federal agent to blow up the courthouse in a bid to avoid a November trial on securities fraud charges.
