CONEJO VALLEY: BRIEFLY : FORMER FIRE CAPTAIN PLACED ON PROBATION.VENTURA - A former Ventura County fire captain who admitted to selling methamphetamine and possessing explosive devices was sentenced to probation Friday and could face up to a year in the Ventura County Jail. William Handy, 49, admitted in February to three charges of selling methamphetamine in December 1994. In sentencing Handy to probation, Ventura Superior Court Judge Allan Steele said he would wait for a recommendation from county probation officials on the length of both the county jail term and the probationary term. Steele is scheduled to make his ruling at a June 7 hearing.
