CONEJO VALLEY: BRIEFLY : COUNTY OFFICIALS AGREE TO ALLOW SKATING LIMITS.


VENTURA - The board of supervisors agreed Tuesday to work on a county skateboard ordinance that would allow owners of private property with public access, such as churches and shopping centers, to post their property against roller-skating, in-line skating and skateboarding skateboarding

Supervisor Kathy Long proposed that the county develop such an ordinance after a Camarillo church complained that skaters were using its grounds for their sport, endangering pedestrians.

Similar ordinances are in place in most of the county's cities, but the county has no such ordinance for its unincorporated areas.

Amgen gives $3,500 to Free Clinic in Simi

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The Free Clinic of Simi Valley has received a $3,500 grant from the Amgen Foundation.

``This money could not have come at a better time,'' said Nicolette Munoz, a clinic board member. ``Traditional sources of funding have been down. This will give us a boost.''

The Free Clinic, founded in 1971, provides medical care, counseling and legal assistance to individuals regardless of their ability to pay. The clinic primarily services the eastern Ventura County Communities of Simi Valley, Moorpark and the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by .

Teens invited to join city's Youth Council

SIMI VALLEY - The Youth Council is seeking Simi Valley residents between the ages of 13 and 19 who would like to serve a one-year term on the panel.

Applications are now being accepted for new terms See suggestions for new terms.  that begin Nov. 1.

The Youth Council is an advisory board appointed by City Council. The panel meets regularly to review youths' concerns, participate in community activities and provide youths with an active role in city government.

Each high school and middle school is represented on the 24-member Youth Council, which meets for approximately one hour on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Applications are available at City Hall and the public library, both located at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, and the Development Services Building at 3855-A Alamo Alamo

Creek cleanup a part of statewide efforts
