Construction closes portion of bike path

 near the intersection of Royal and Sequoia avenues has caused the closure of a half-mile section of the Arroyo Simi bike path, said a Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District official.

The section of bike path from the 2900 block to the 3600 block of Royal Avenue will be closed until Jan. 1.

Construction of the new four-lane bridge will extend Sequoia Avenue to a new 350-home subdivision.

While the portion of bike path is closed bicyclists will have to travel on Royal Avenue, said Rick Johnson, a spokesman for the park district. He urged extreme caution.
