It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by resident at a local dry-cleaning store last month. The victim was robbed of cash at gunpoint about 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at Mr. Dryclean, 1026 Avenida De Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks, according to Crime Stoppers. The suspect was described as a white male, 25 years or older, 5 feet 7 inches, average weight, wearing a light-colored jacket and shirt and blue jeans. The suspect's appearance was unkempt. SOURCE: Daily News Piru campground closed for season LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST Los Padres National Forest is a forest located in southern and central California, which includes most of the mountainous land along the California coast from Ventura to Monterey, extending inland. Elevations range from sea level to 8,831 feet. - The National Forest Service closed the Blue Point Campground above Lake Piru for the winter season effective Monday. The campground was reopened in May after a three-year closure prompted by a shrinking federal budget and work force. The camp reopened this year after the Forest Service entered a partnership to operate the grounds with the United Water Conservation District, which owns and operates Lake Piru. The campground is expected to reopen in the spring.
