CONEJO VALLEY: BRIEFLY : 2 SENIORS HOSPITALIZED AFTER T.O. CAR COLLISION.


THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. It has light industry and manufacturing. In the expanding and developing southern California area, Thousand Oaks is one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities, marked by a population increase of more than 35% between 1980 and 1990. Once known generally as the Conejo Valley, it became a stagecoach stop in 1874. California Lutheran College is there. - Two people were injured, one critically, in a traffic collision in Thousand Oaks on Thursday afternoon.

Marghatta Egenberger, 77, of Thousand Oaks was driving west on Avenida de las Flores about 12:45 p.m. when she started to make a left turn to southbound Moorpark Road, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

During the turn, Egenberger's vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Miglan Solorzano, 18, of Granada Hills, who was headed east on Avenida de las Flores. Two passengers in Egenberger's vehicle were injured and taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.

On Friday, Marie Looney, 93, of Thousand Oaks was listed in critical but stable condition in the hospital's cardiac care unit, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Majesta Ritter, 89, of Thousand Oaks was listed in fair but stable condition.

Speeding crackdown targets Felton Street

THOUSAND OAKS - In the coming week, sheriff's deputies will target speeding cars on Felton Street near the intersection of Evergreen Avenue.

Complaints from residents about people driving at excess speeds prompted the action. Deputies will be actively enforcing the 25 mph speed limit on Felton to minimize the risk of accidents.

The area has a high volume of pedestrian traffic and numerous residential driveways, Thousand Oaks officials said.
