CONEJO MAN APPOINTED REGION'S TOP FBI AGENT.

Following the retirement of its top agent in Ventura County, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), division of the U.S. Dept. of Justice charged with investigating all violations of federal laws except those assigned to some other federal agency.  named Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  resident David E. Nesbitt to fill the position.

Nesbitt, a 29-year FBI veteran based in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , will begin Aug. 1, replacing Gary Auer as the supervising senior resident agent for Ventura County.

After eight years heading the Los Angeles headquarters office's specialized financial institution fraud unit - which oversees mostly white-collar crimes in seven counties - Nesbitt said he looks forward to overseeing an office that typically deals with a broader spectrum of federal violations.

``This will be something different and something of a learning process for me with plenty of new work. But I'm happy to work with the full realm of issues our agency deals with,'' he said.

Nesbitt, 51, was born in Detroit. He joined the FBI in 1969 and after serving one year in San Antonio San Antonio (săn ăntō`nēō, əntōn`), city (1990 pop. 935,933), seat of Bexar co., S central Tex., at the source of the San Antonio River; inc. 1837.  was transferred to the Los Angeles office. He has been the supervisor of the financial institution fraud unit since 1990, when it was founded following the savings and loan savings and loan n. a banking and lending institution, chartered either by a state or the Federal government. Nesbitt replaces Auer, who retired May 30.
