The program has donated over 3,000 bears since its inception in 1997.

``Sometimes the easiest way to calm a child following a traumatic incident is to make them feel safe and loved,'' said Rick Kessler, a Ronald McDonald House community grants board member.

The league was organized in 1995 by a small group of women, and has grown to 78 volunteer members who administer and control various philanthropic projects throughout the year. Last year, they volunteered over 10,000 hours of service. For information, call (310) 444-7000.
