The median age is climbing and the birth rate is slowing in the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  and Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. , census figures released today show.

And while most residents range from 35 to 54 years old, the number of senior citizens, those 65 and older, is on the rise.

In Agoura Hills the number of households with people 65 and older doubled since 1990, from 1.5 percent to 3 percent. The number of 65-and-older households in Simi Valley rose from 3.2 to 4.9 percent over the past decade.

``Those numbers don't surprise me,'' Agoura Hills City Councilwoman Louise Rishoff said. ``It won't change things materially.

``We've tried all along to have a city that is balanced and have services tailored to the broadest range of the population. I'm not sure from a small shift like that we will revisit re·vis·it

The median age in Agoura Hills went from 32.8 in 1990 to 37.6, while Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. In Westlake Village, single mothers with children under 17 increased from 2.4 percent to 4.1 percent of the city's population of 7,455.
