``It would definitely fill a void in a technical career path that we had not been able to offer up to now,'' he said.

The college has been in discussions with California Lutheran University about holding classes at the center for about a year, said Donna-Rae Caccavo, acting marketing director for graduate and adult programs.

``We do have quite a few students who live in the Santa Clarita area,'' she said. ``They make a triangle - work in the (San Fernando) Valley, come here for school. By bringing it out there, we can provide more convenience to students that live out there (and) also offer it to more students.''

The program would operate in 12-week, year-round sessions and could last up to two years. But before classes can begin, it needs about 20 students. Candidates should have completed some college-level courses, Caccavo said.

``We would prefer them to have the general education requirements done,'' she said. ``But we can advise them in transfer of credits or concurrent enrollment at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state.
