The City Council has decided to look into the possibility of using computer projections to get a theoretical snapshot (1) A saved copy of memory including the contents of all memory bytes, hardware registers and status indicators. The concept, proposed by Councilwoman Elois Zeanah at Tuesday's City Council meeting, will assume a maximum build-out of 8,000 new homes and 10 million square feet of commercial and industrial space to predict accompanying traffic levels, noise and air pollution. ``If this is going to be increasing exponentially ex·po·nen·tial adj. 1. Cities frequently use long-range projections to map their future, said Mayor Judy Lazar. The city's General Plan was approved 25 years ago, and although it's not perfect, it was pretty much on track with where the city was headed, Lazar said. A computer model could be used in the same way, she said. ``I think it helps us tie into where we're going as a community,'' Lazar said. ``I think it can give us a good idea.'' In last week's State of the City address, the mayor called for the city to reduce the number of new housing units allowed into the city every year. In 1990, the council expanded Measure A to allow 650 units a year into the city. Councilman Michael Markey said he thinks a computer model would be ``a good tool for the council and the public,'' but that he would prefer to look just 10 years ahead. ``Ten years is a more viable time frame,'' Markey said. ``I'd feel more comfortable with those numbers.
