COMPUSA NATIONWIDE RETAILER OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS BUYS VMX VOICE PROCESSING SYSTEMS TO HANDLE LARGE VOLUME OF CALLS

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- CompUSA, operator of the nation's largest computer superstores, has purchased VMX voice processing systems for 15 of its retail stores around the country. The systems are intended to improve customer service by automatically processing calls from perspective customers and directing them to the proper department or recorded information.
" We are pleased that CompUSA, America's largest computer superstore retailer, has chosen our voice processing systems to improve customer service, " said Pat Howard, VMX president. "Our position has always been that only dedicated voice processing systems are powerful enough to handle the large volumes of calls received by companies like CompUSA. VMX systems, with their single platform architecture, bring telephony grade reliability and better caller service to all applications."
CompUSA has been using a VMX system at its Dallas headquarters for several years and satisfaction with the system was a factor in choosing VMX for its stores.
CompUSA will use an Automated Attendant feature on the VMX systems, which provides efficient and consistent service to callers, who will be able to "dial" an extension number, listen to an information message or stay on the line for personal assistance. If the store is closed when they call, a recording will play store hours and directions.
In addition to store locations, directions and hours, callers will be able to transfer to various sales departments (credit card, COD, corporate) or the technical support department, or speak to someone about product availability.
VMX designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of Integrated Voice Processing systems and software. The product line allows the functional integration of voice with data and image on a single platform, turning the touchtone telephone into an information Workstation. VMX products are sold directly by VMX's National Accounts sales force and distributed by VMX Systems Companies (VMX-owned subsidiaries), D.I.A.L.PRO Systems Companies (independent value-adding resellers) and OEMs in major markets worldwide. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California.
