 FOR SECOND QUARTER OF FISCAL 1992
 DALLAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- CompUSA Inc. (NASDAQ: CUSA), the nation's largest computer superstore retailer, today announced a 42.0 percent increase in sales to $202 million for the fiscal 1992 second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1991, compared with $142 million for the like quarter a year ago.
 Comparable-store sales for 15 units, other than the original Dallas store, open for a year or more were up 10.3 percent during the fiscal 1992 second quarter. Including the original store in Dallas, comparable-store sales were up 8.3 percent for the second quarter of fiscal 1992.
 "We are pleased with our quarterly sales results, particularly our December comparable-store sales increase of 10.9 percent," said Nathan Morton, president and chief executive officer. "Our customers continue to endorse our high-value offering, as well as our concept of providing a broad assortment of microcomputer products at deep discount prices."
 For the first six months of fiscal 1992, sales were up 49.6 percent to $374 million, compared with sales of $250 million for the first six months of fiscal 1991. Comparable-store sales for units other than the Dallas store increased 10.0 percent during the first half of fiscal 1992. Including the Dallas store, comparable-store sales were up 9.5 percent for the first six months of fiscal 1992.
