COMPUADD ENHANCES HIGH-END PC MODELS; NOVELL APPROVES IN-HOUSE CERTIFICATION

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- CompuAdd Computer Corporation today announced redesigned ISA and EISA motherboards, available immediately, in the company's high-end desktop and vertical profile PCs. The company also announced that Novell, Inc. has approved Coms meet all the requirements for testing and certifying systems for compatibility with Novell's networking products.
CompuAdd's enhanced systems are available with a choice of Intel microprocessors: 486DX2-66, 486DX2-50, 486DX-33 and 486SX-33. The systems feature a 238-pin upgrade socket compatible with Intel OverDrive processors, including future OverDrive processors based on the Pentium architecture.
A Flash ROM BIOS, standard in the EISA systems and available as an option in the ISA systems, enables the user to update the BIOS via software to keep pace with the latest developments in peripheral devices.
EISA systems support up to 256MB RAM and ISA systems up to 64MB RAM using 36-bit SIMMs. Systems include 64K external cache memory, upgradeable to 256K. Users have options of either standard or high- performance cache.
Each system has eight expansion slots, six of which are available after configuration with video and I/O cards. One is a local bus slot that accommodates slave-only VESA adapters.
These PCs include one year of free on-site service plus a second year of free labor for carry-in service. All CompuAdd systems include 24-hour, seven-day technical support.
CompuAdd undertook the Novell certification as part of the company's ongoing commitment to its customers who are increasingly moving to networked PC environments. The in-house certification lab will enable CompuAdd to more rapidly test and certify specific system configurations for Novell compatibility.
All CompuAdd desktop and floor-standing PCs sold with a hard drive are shipped NetWare-ready, preloaded with Novell's NetWare Lite 1.1 and Net Ware Lite's Utility for Windows, which allow sharing of desktop resources and can be fully integrated into NetWare networks.
