The international student competition for a library adjacent to the Alvar

An alvar or pavement barren is a biological environment based on a limestone plain with thin or no soil and, as a result, sparse vegetation.
 Aalto Civic Centre Seinajoki, Finland has been judged. The jury (including Juhani Pallasmaa Juhani Uolevi Pallasmaa (born September 14, 1936, Hämeenlinna, Finland) is a Finnish architect and former professor of Architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology. Pallasmaa is a former Director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture (1978-1983).  and Daniel Libeskind Daniel Libeskind, (born May 12, 1946 in Łódź, Poland) is a Polish-born Jewish American architect, who has designed many prominent and celebrated buildings, including the Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany, the Denver Art Museum in the United States, the Imperial War Museum ) decided that the 331 entrants did not display enough appreciation of local context or culture. So nine were asked to develop schemes. No first prize has been given, but the second went to British based team: Marcelo Espinosa, Pablo Lazo Lazo may refer to:
  • Sergey Lazo, a Moldovan revolutionary
  • Pedro Luis Lazo, a prominent pitcher for the Cuban national baseball team
  • Lazo (musician), a musician from Dominica
  • Lazo District, a district in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia
, Marila Perez-Pantin with Susanna Gonzalez and Francisco van Kesteren. The jury called for further development of the proiect.
