A handful of area companies were among the 28 finalists announced Monday for the Greater Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

The local finalists are:

DataDirect Networks Inc., Chatsworth.

Matthews Studio Group, Burbank.

Verdugo Banking Co., Glendale.

JeTech Data Systems Inc., Camarillo.

THQ THQ Toy Headquarters
THQ Territorial Headquarters
THQ Tehsil Headquarters (Pakistan)
THQ The Holy Quran
THQ Theater Headquarters
 Inc., Calabasas.

AppleOne Employment Services, Glendale.

Superior Bankcard Service, Woodland Hills.

Indo-American Entertainment, Sherman Oaks.

The 28 finalists were selected from more than 100 nominations.

Winners, who will be announced at a banquet June 25 at the Beverly Hilton, will become eligible for the National Entrepreneur of the Year award.
