COMOTION TRIALS GENERAL DYNAMICS SOFTWARE FOR DATA SHARING.

General Dynamics General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD) is a defense conglomerate formed by mergers and divestitures, and as of 2006 it is the sixth largest defense contractor in the world[1]. The company has changed markedly in the post-Cold War era of defense consolidation.  Viz, a part of General Dynamics C4 Systems, introduces CoMotion(r) Trials, a collaborative, decision-support software tool that enables hundreds of researchers, analysts and managers to see, analyze, share and comment on data and information produced throughout the clinical trials process. The software, which runs on a commercial off-the-shelf Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) is a term for software or hardware, generally technology or computer products, that are ready-made and available for sale, lease, or license to the general public.  computer, integrates data from many separate systems, portraying it in easily configurable charts and visualizations.

Required by the U.S. government, clinical trials comprise rigorous research, testing and analysis of the safety and effectiveness of new pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. "CoMotion Trials streamlines the flow of information during every phase of the clinical trials process, and that means significant cost and time savings for everyone involved."

CoMotion Trials is built on General Dynamics' CoMotion(r) software technology, currently used in the life sciences industry and by the U.S. government and military. For the military, CoMotion is part of an established battle management system that enables commanders and their staffs to collaboratively develop operational plans, then monitor plan rehearsal and execution from geographically dispersed headquarters.
