Hayward Field at University of Oregon is one of the most well-known historic track and field stadiums in the United States. It has been the home to the University of Oregon Track and Field teams since 1919.
, where the 12-, 13- and 14-year-olds achieved numerous personal bests on the legendary track. Brandon Baker, an eighth-grader at Cal Young, scored one of the biggest surprises in throwing the discus 30 feet farther than his previous best, a 123-10 toss to win his division. In the field, Knapp placed second in the long jump at 17-1 1/2 . Sixth-grader Gabi Parker of Roosevelt increased her high jump PR by 4 inches with a winning jump of 4 feet, 6 inches. She also won her shot put competition and ran in the 80-meter hurdles event.

Kidsports honors 17 on 50th anniversary

Emerald Kidsports announced its inaugural Hall of Honor inductees and distinguished alumni recipients at a Saturday dinner marking the local youth sports organization's 50th anniversary. The dozen individual and community partners named to the Hall of Honor were the following:

Ralph Myers Jr., Kidsports' first executive director who guided the organization from 1957 to 1994; Don Barker Don Barker is a fictional character in the series Dream Team, played by Jon Morrison.

Don Barker had a reputation of being a hard-nosed, tough manager, renowned for making teams achieve promotion in the lower leagues.

Morrisette Field dedication: A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the first phase of Springfield's new community sports park on 32nd Street, just south of Main Street, is at 1 p.m. Sunday. Kidsports baseball, softball: Registration brochures will be mailed to all homes on Kidsports' mailing list An automated e-mail system on the Internet, which is maintained by subject matter. There are thousands of such lists that reach millions of individuals and businesses. New users generally subscribe by sending an e-mail with the word "subscribe" in it and subsequently receive all new  this week, despite the fact that the announced registration deadline is this Friday. Kick City Indoor Soccer

: Registration for men's, women's and coed summer leagues closes May 23, with games beginning the week of June 20. Although registration numbers were insufficient to kick off a noncompetitive adult fitness league for ages 30 and older in the spring, Kick City will try again for the summer season. The cost is $45 per person and open to individuals and couples. The recreational program will include practice sessions as well as games. SATURDAY, JUNE 12 - The second annual Cape Mountain 10-Mile Trail Run begins at the Horse Creek Trailhead 10 1/2 miles north of Florence (one-half mile south of Sea Lion Caves Sea Lion Caves is a tourist attraction on the Oregon Coast 11 miles north of Florence, Oregon, United States. It is home to the only year-round colony of Steller's Sea Lions in North America. ) and 3 1/2 miles east of Highway 101 on Horse Creek Road. This is a single lane U.S. Forest Service road with limited parking. The loop race course includes 1,850 feet of elevation gain with panoramic views of the ocean.
