JAMES, HARWICK + PARTNERS, a Dallas, Texas, architectural firm, has been selected to design an urban redevelopment and mixed use community in New Orleans. The site, previously an abandoned industrial area, is being cleared, with new construction planned to be complete in late 2000. Located at Annunciation Street and Race Street within the River Park development master plan, the site represents a new gateway into the Lower Garden District and the largest inner city residential development in 50 years in New Orleans. The redevelopment will consist of 710 apartment homes in three- and four-story buildings distributed throughout the site combined with multi-level parking garages that are fully screened at ground level. Apartment options include attached garages, live/work configurations, and an extensive variety of floorplans. The building program also includes leasing and management staff facilities, amenities (business center, exercise room, and pool) for residents, a retail enclave at Terpischore Street, and other neighborhood services.

RIVERSIDE TOWERS, formerly University Towers, overlooking Boyd Park and the Raritan River in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is being restored to its former top quality by New York City-based ReP GENERAL INCORPORATED. RCP, owner of residential and commercial property in 10 states, purchased the 169-unit high-rise apartment building in January. Although the building has lacked some cosmetic features in recent years, it has all the fundamental characteristics of a fine residential building. The apartments are large, light, and airy, with views up and down the river. The community is close to Douglass College and provides easy access to Boyd Park, highway, bus, and train transportation, several campuses of Rutgers University, and shops and restaurants of downtown New Brunswick. RCP began restoring the building's two lobbies in January. Vacant apartments are being renovated, including the replacement of all windows. Other immediate restoration projects include elevators, hallways, and laundry rooms.

OAKWOOD CORPORATE HOUSING, Los Angeles, California, has expanded to Bangkok, Thailand, with the February 1999 opening of OAKWOOD CITY RESIDENCE, offering 560 serviced apartments. Catering to international expatriates living in Bangkok as well as travelers on extended business trips, the community will offer fully furnished apartments combining the comfort of a private residence with the services of a fine hotel. Oakwood City Residence will be the first American-managed extended stay property in Thailand. Amenities include a complete fitness center, resort swimming pool, business center, restaurant, and a resident activities program.
