COMMUNITY NEWS WORK WITH VETS EARNS MINISTER OF THE YEAR TITLE.


International Evangelism of Chatsworth recently named Julie Stranges of Chatsworth as Minister of the Year for her work with the Veterans Administration and the Chatsworth chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a Colonial patriotic society in the United States, open to women having one or more ancestors who aided the cause of the Revolution. The society was organized (1890) at Washington, D.C. , where she serves as chaplain.

``She's a doer, and she'll tell you when two and two don't equal four,'' said Frank Stranges, international president of International Evangelism of Crusades and the Theological Seminary of California. Julie is the secretary-general of both organizations. ``She works, and nobody's done as much work as her to distinguish herself.''

She also earned a certificate of appreciation from Ken Clark, director of the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  regional VA hospital system, for her volunteer work on several committees involving the veterans they serve.

The Milken Jewish Community Center in West Hills inducted figure skater Cindy Bortz Cindy Bortz is a former American figure skater. She is the 1987 World Junior champion. Bortz-Gould is now married (her married name is Cindy Bortz-Gould) and teaches skating in Simi Valley, California.  into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday. Bortz, now 34, was born and raised in Tarzana and coaches skating in Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. .

Bortz began skating at 8 and became junior world champion at 15. Also at that age, she earned the gold medal gold medal

Patricia Smith Patricia Smith (1955) is a poet, spoken word performer, playwright, author, writing teacher, and former journalist.

She was born in Chicago and lives in Westchester County, New York.

Since 1989, the Disney Teacher Awards have gone annually to teachers ``in celebration of their creativity, innovative teaching methods and ability to inspire students while actively engaging them in learning.'' The honorees will get $10,000, a $5,000 grant for their school and a six-day professional development institute with their principals at the Walt Disney World Noun 1. The Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerces declared John Parker of Parker Brown Inc. as its Business of the Year. Carolyn Poppert of the West Hills Neighborhood Council earned the Volunteer of the Year award.

The chamber also gave its Community Unity Award to numerous local businesses and officials that helped Canoga Park earn the title ``All America City'' for 2005. Among them were The Community Redevelopment Agency, the Canoga Park and West Hills Neighborhood Councils and the office of Councilman Dennis Zine.

The greater Los Angeles Oncology Nursing Society named Cindy Mark, a registered nurse who works at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center is a hospital in Burbank, California, USA. The hospital has 455 beds, and is part of Providence Health & Services. It's adress is: 501 S. Buena Vista St., Burbank, CA 91505.  in Burbank, as Staff Nurse of the Year.

``Cindy is relentless in her passion for oncology nursing,'' oncology department nurse manager Nancy Loporchio said. ``She has a love for oncology nursing, and that's demonstrated in her continued commitment to provide the best care for her patients and their families. She brings inspiration and initiative to her unit.''

Mark began working at Providence Saint Joseph's oncology department in 1994.
