Scott-Suhrstedt won the school's Guerin Prize, which allows winning students to visit living Americans they most most admire.

``Having the chance to sit down with Cynthia Phelps and discuss all types of music would mean the world to me,'' she wrote on her Guerin Prize essay. ``I have so many questions to ask her about her journey as a violist.''

Last summer, the Studio City resident, who has played viola for the past nine years, studied music and performed in the Young Artists Orchestra at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute.

The 350 hand-painted ornaments that hang on the Blue Room tree this year were selected following a contest for members of the Society of Decorative Painters, of which Mundwiller is part.

``I felt like Cinderella going to the ball,'' Mundwiller said. ``Meeting the first lady was awesome. She greeted us like we were old friends. And to my surprise, I even found my ornament on the White House Christmas tree.''

Mundwiller started painting 30 years ago when a friend asked her to take a decorative painting class.

``Who would have ever thought that something I learned 30 years ago would bring me to the White House where I would be honored by the first lady of our nation?''

 Campbell, chairwoman of the California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , Department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management.

The fund will go toward supporting students and graduate assistants and help cover program-related expenses, such as guest lecturer fees.

Campbell also plans to supplement the fund with deductions from her paycheck.

``I know that everyone in this department thinks what we do is important. I do, too. So I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is.''

AGOURA HILLS - The Little Big Band, an independent group of Agoura High students, recently donated $1,000 to the Agoura High School Agoura High School is a four-year high school, freshman-senior, in Agoura Hills, California, United States. It is the largest high school in the Las Virgenes Unified School District, with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students.  Music Boosters.

The group of teens plays standards from music legends and donates a significant portion of its earnings back to the school to fund youth activities and inspire other teens to give back to their communities.

The group's Dec. 4 concert was one of two annual fund-raisers held by the group to benefit the school.

The Little Big Band plays regularly from 7 to 10 p.m. every Saturday at Paul's Restaurant in Westlake Village.
