COMMUNITY NEWS SCOUT EARNS EAGLE AWARD AFTER BUILDING CHURCH SHED.


Matthew T. Lee, 16, of Encino has earned his Boy Scout Eagle Award.

The son of Tom and Helen Lee, Matthew is following in his father's footsteps in earning the award. Matthew is a member of Boy Scout Troop 10. He earned 30 merit badges and served as senior patrol leader and troop chaplain.

The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise presented a total of $65,000 to 43 local nonprofit organizations, senior groups, youth groups and charities.

The contribution brings to $136,000 the amount the group has donated to the community in the past two years. The funds were raised through the annual Cajun Creole Music and Food Festival, the Pars for Paws golf tournament and other Rotary projects.

Founded in 1986, the Simi Valley group has raised nearly $1 million for charity.

The North Hollywood High School North Hollywood High School, originally called Lankershim High School when it opened in 1927, is a secondary school in North Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. Cadets learn basic military skills, including leadership, as part of a demanding program. Military training is combined with military science instruction to provide a solid foundation for becoming officers.
