COMMUNITY NEWS MOISES GARAY TAKES FIRST PLACE IN CHAN DASH.


Sun Valley Middle School Sun Valley Middle School is located in Sun Valley, a section of Los Angeles, California, and is part of Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). In April 1948, school officials announced that "the most charming of all the new junior high schools" in the Los Angeles system would  seventh-grader Moises Garay took first place in the citywide semifinals of the recent Jackie Chan Studio Fitness School Dash.

Garay defeated 15 other Los Angeles-area students in the Dec. 3 competition, with his schoolmates, eighth-grader Samuel Aguilar and sixth-grader Jennifer Flores Flores, town, Guatemala

Chandler, Lippe and Zenian are alumni, and Inman's father was a member of the private university's first graduating class in 1887.

The House of Blues House of Blues (HOB) is a chain of music halls and restaurants founded in 1992 by Hard Rock Cafe founder Isaac Tigrett and his friend and investor Dan Aykroyd. It is a home for live music and southern-inspired cuisine, whose clubs celebrate African-American culture, specifically  recently donated 23 guitars to fifth-graders at Our Community School in North Hills as part of its ``Make an Impression Program.''

The school's music teacher, Emily Wells, will teach the students how to play and they will perform at the House of Blues at the end of the school year.

The International House of Blues Foundation and Washburn Guitars sponsor the program.

 Bank recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Penny Lane Centers, a North Hills-based home for abused children.

Write-in voters chose Penny Lane for the grant and Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez presented the award.

Penny Lane serves more than 1,500 abused teens in Los Angeles County annually with residential and foster care, adoption services, housing, mentoring, independent-living skills, job skills and mental health services.
