COMMUNITY NEWS CSUN RADIO STATION WINS BIG.


CSUN's public radio station KCSN-FM (88.5) earned two first-place awards in a statewide contest sponsored by the Associated Press Associated Press: see news agency.

The station competed against every professional radio station in California and Nevada with fewer than five full-time employees.

Parents Anonymous Inc., a child-abuse-prevention organization, honored Pacoima resident Silvia Figueroa Franco at a ceremony last Monday in Arlington, Va., to kick off National Parent Leadership Month. Franco and nine others serve on the group's National Parent Leadership Team.

Franco, who has five children, volunteers in local schools where she encourages students to continue their education.

February's National Parent Leadership Month will recognize parent leaders nationwide and educate the public about parent leadership in strengthening families and preventing child abuse.

The Thousand Oaks High School Thousand Oaks High School is a high school established in 1962 and located in Thousand Oaks, California. It is a California Distinguished School, and offers curriculum at all levels for Thousand Oaks students. The mascot is the lancer.  Dance Team placed in all team dances at the Claremont Festival of Champions earlier this month. They took first place in the Small Lyrical and Large Lyrical Dance Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques.
