COMMUNITY NEWS CSUN HAS BEST FUND RAISING YEAR YET.


NORTHRIDGE Northridge is the name of some places in the United States of America:

 - California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , received $28.5 million in private support last year, its best year yet for fund raising.

The donations - from alumni, parents, supporters, foundations, corporations and CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  employees - in fiscal 2003-04 represented a 53 percent increase over the $18.8 million raised in 2002-03.

This is the fifth consecutive year donations to CSUN have increased, making the campus among the most successful fund-raisers among the 23 Cal State campuses.

OXNARD - Albertsons supermarkets has helped purchase a new truck for Food Share, the Ventura County Regional Foodbank.

The new truck will be used to collect and distribute food to hungry residents of Ventura County. In 2004, the food bank distributed 10 million pounds of food. That number should rise in 2005 with the extra truck.

``Albertsons' donation will enable us to increase the size of our truck fleet and thereby increase the amount of food donations we can pick up,'' said Jim Mangis, president of Food Share.

Through a network of more than 240 charitable agencies, the food bank provides enough food for more than 4 million meals annually.

The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  this month announced $100,000 in grants to 11 local organizations, including a residential treatment facility for abused and neglected children and a foster youth program.

The awards represent just a portion of nearly $1 million in Foundation Legacy Grants to L.A. area groups in the 2004 cycle.

One $10,000 grant goes to the ``Love to Learn Literacy Program'' of Hollygrove Children and Family Services. The program aims to build confidence in children 6-13 through reading and writing.

Hollygrove serves abused and neglected children.
