COMMUNITY NEWS CHATSWORTH RESIDENT EARNS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD.


Chatsworth resident Kay Gordon has received the 19th annual Hadassah National Leadership Award, honoring members for their civic, educational and cultural work.

``Kay Gordon's past achievements have led to this well-deserved honor,'' said Marcia Gould, president of the Shirim ha Emek Group, Hadassah Southern California.

Gordon was president of the Shirim ha Emek Group for eight years, is on Hadassah's Northern Area Board, and has been instrumental in the success of numerous area projects.

With more than 1,000 chapters in the United States and Puerto Rico, Hadassah is the nation's largest Jewish women's organization.

Ivy Academia Charter in Woodland Hills won the Fine Arts Drama Award for the student production ``The Tempest'' at the California Student Media & Multimedia Festival, sponsored by the California School Library Association.

Hannah Nawroth received the award for Best Individual Performance. Other students sharing the drama award are: Jonah Schneider, Jenny Shinkar, Trevor Klaiman, Taylor Kuizin-Ingelson, Sara Sutherland, Morgan Sattler, Colin Nierenberg and Tara Leisen.

Cleveland High School received a $7,500 grant from the Academy Foundation's Institutional Grants Program for its summer film production workshops offering cinematography projects for students.

The foundation, the educational arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has distributed more than 350 grants to film-related efforts encouraging opportunities in film education and cultural programming.
