COMMUNITY NEWS CARDIAC KIDS GRANT GIVEN TO WESTLAKE HIGH.


Cardiac Kids Have H.E.A.R.T., a Thousnd Oaks-based nonprofit organization helping children with congenital heart disease congenital heart disease, any defect in the heart present at birth. Cardiac Kids Have H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Educate, Assist, Research and Treat) provides grants and trains school personnel in the Conejo Valley Unified School District Conejo Valley Unified School District or CVUSD is a school district in Ventura County. Winnie Hon, a 2005 graduate of Granada Hills High School Granada Hills Charter High School (Granada Hills High School) is a public, charter, co-educational, secondary school consisting of students in grades 9-12. The school colors are green, black, and white. , was awarded a $1,500 scholarship through the Vons employee scholarship program. Four local high school students were awarded $1,000 scholarships by Hope Christian Church in Northridge. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an ; Chatsworth High School graduate Grace Lee, who will attend CSUN; and Reseda High School graduate Oluwatobi Ogbechie, who will attend Harvard College.

Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services, a nonprofit agency offering education and treatment centers for at-risk youths in the juvenile-justice system, honored Dee Gadbury of Santa Clarita and Cathy McCutcheon of Saugus with the group's Volunteers of the Year Award.

The duo have led fund-raising efforts that have earned more than $100,000 in the past three years for the Los Angeles-based organization.

Gadbury is president of the Santa Clarita-Newhall Optimist Club and president-elect of the Optimist Blind Youth Association. McCutcheon has been a member of the Santa Clarita-Newhall Optimist Club for six years and is vice president for fundraising activities for the club's southwest district.
