 AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT-ACQUISITIONS
 FARGO, N.D., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Jerome B. Woods has been elected to the newly created position of senior vice president- acquisitions of Community First Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: CFBX), Donald R. Mengedoth, president and CEO, announced today.
 "Our corporate strategy is to grow through the acquisition of well- managed community banks in the Upper Midwest that share our commitment to serving customers in their communities," Mengedoth said.
 "Jerry brings to this position over 25 years of community bank management experience and a knowledge of the markets we wish to serve."
 Community First Bankshares has acquired five banks and thrifts in the last two years and has two acquisitions pending. "Additional acquisitions are under consideration, and Jerry will coordinate the evaluation, negotiation and assimilation of future acquisition prospects," Mengedoth said.
 Woods has been serving as an acquisition consultant for Community First since his retirement from First Bank System in January of 1992. He has been an executive officer of community banks in Colorado, North Dakota and Montana, serving as chairman and CEO of First Bank Fargo from 1983 to 1990. Woods and his wife, Judy, plan to relocate to Fargo from Colorado.
