The event is part of mall owner Forest City Enterprises' second annual Employees Community Day nationwide. The shelter houses domestic-violence victims - both men and women and their children. The Cleveland-based real estate development company gives its employees an opportunity to spend a workday volunteering with local service organizations. More than 1,000 Forest City associates in 30 cities nationwide had been expected to work last week with local nonprofit groups and agencies. ``Our first Community Day event was such a success that we knew right away it would become an annual event,'' said Charles A. Ratner, president and chief executive officer of Forest City Enterprises.
