Testimony to be heard

on proposed state budget

The state Joint Ways and Means WAYS AND MEANS. In legislative assemblies there is usually appointed a committee whose duties are to inquire into, and propose to the house, the ways and means to be adopted to raise funds for the use of the government. This body is called the committee of ways and means.  Committee will hold a public hearing tonight in Room 282 at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Lillis Business Complex The Lillis Business Complex (LCB) is a building on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon. It is home to the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, and comprises the new main building (called Lillis Hall , on 13th Avenue near Kincaid Street, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Commuter transportation

programs to be presented

A free presentation on a program aimed to change travel patterns will be held Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Bascom/Tykeson rooms of the Eugene Public Library.

In October 2005, the Oregon Department of Transportation commissioned the international transportation research firm SocialData to conduct three TravelSmart pilot projects in three cities


The Three Cities is a collective description of the three fortified cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea on the Island of Malta, which are enclosed by the massive line of fortification created by the Knights of St John, the Cottonera Lines.
: Eugene, Salem/Keizer and Bend.

TravelSmart focuses on reducing single-occupant vehicle use and encourages transportation options such as bicycling, walking, public transportation and ride sharing. It uses marketing techniques such as informational brochures, personalized timetables, maps, incentive items and alternative transportation services.

Werner Brog, managing director of SocialData, will present the final results from all three pilot projects here Thursday. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

War-tax resistance

to be discussed at forum

The topic of this week's Pacifica Forum is "War-Tax Resistance: Overview and Assessment," a talk by Orval Etter.

The free forum will be at 4 p.m. Friday at 129 McKenzie Hall, on the University of Oregon campus The University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon has around 80 buildings and facilities, including athletics sites such as Hayward Field, which is the site for the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trials, and McArthur Court, and off-campus sites such as nearby Autzen Stadium and the  near 11th Avenue and Kincaid Street.
