Workshop on health care for women 40 and older

The special health concerns of women 40 and older will be the focus of a workshop on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Eugene, 66 E. Sixth Ave.

Three health care providers from Women's Care, which is sponsoring the event, will make presentations on subjects of particular interest to midlife mid·life

Trike-A-Thon to benefit Holly Street Head Start

SPRINGFIELD - The Holly Street Head Start in Springfield will hold its annual Trike-A-Thon Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Children will ride for 15 minutes or 25 laps, and pledges can be made either as a one-time donation or on a per-lap basis. Physician to discuss

alternative medicines

"Natural Medicines" will be the topic of a talk by Dr. Harriet Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Eugene Water & Electric Board, 500 E. Fourth Ave.

Hall is a retired family physician who speaks and writes about alternative medicine. Her talk will look at the effectiveness of diet supplements and herbal medicines.

The CASA of Lane County's Champions for Children eight-kilometer run and walk, as well as a two-mile family fun walk, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marist High School track. Both the run and the walk courses will be on the Willamette River Willamette River

Greenacres Grange plans Sew Fest this weekend

COOS BAY - Greenacres Grange will host a Sew Fest Saturday and Sunday. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Cost is $5 per day. Greenacres Grange is located on Upper Loop Lane south of Coos Bay.

Participants are encouraged to bring sewing machines to work on projects or help others. Material will be on hand for lap quilts, bibs and baby blankets.

to meet with volunteers

HARRISBURG - Harrisburg's SALT (Senior Adult Leadership Team) volunteers will sponsor a coffee and conversation session with Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller, a candidate for re-election, on Saturday. Home and Garden Show planned in Cottage Grove

COTTAGE GROVE - The high school's south gym will be the new setting for the 11th annual Cottage Grove Home and Garden Show Saturday and Sunday. The free event features vendors and information, as well as music by members of the Western Oregon Opry. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cottage Grove High School Cottage Grove High School is a public high school located in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
