Fatjo, Jr., founder of both Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc. and Republic Waste Industries, Inc., and C. Thomas McMillen, Co- Chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and a former three-term Congressman from Maryland have been named to its Board of Directors. Upon completion of its recent stock offering, three other members joined the Commodore Applied Technologies, Inc. Board. They are: Kenneth L. Adelman, a consultant to corporations on international issues who was director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and Deputy U.S. Representative to the United Nations in the Reagan Administration; Herbert A. Cohen, an advisor to U.S. Presidents and agencies in hostage negotiations and crisis management; and David L. Mitchell, an investment banker formerly with Shearson/American Express, Inc. and First Boston Corporation. Paul C. Tom J. Fatjo, Jr. Mr. Fatjo has launched over 20 business ventures, raising in excess of $750 million in capital. He currently serves as Chairman of TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc., a Houston based solid waste management company which he founded in 1991. Mr. Fatjo is also well known as the developer of The Houstonian, a 22-acre fitness and preventative medicine complex and luxury condominium. Mr. Fatjo has served on the boards of several other public companies including Western Waste, Inc., Rolm Corporation, Consolidated Fibers, Inc., Health Resources Corporation of America, Criterion Capital Corporation, Advanced Sciences, Inc. and American Title, Inc., among others. He holds a B.A. from Rice University. He has also co-authored a book, With No Fear of Failure (1981), a treatise on his personal business philosophy. C. Thomas McMillen Tom McMillen served three consecutive terms (1987-1993) in The U.S. House of Representatives from the Fourth Congressional District of Maryland. Mr. McMillen served on both the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. Currently, Mr. McMillen serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Complete Wellness Centers, Inc., a privately held physician practice management company. Previously, he served as Chief Administrative Officer of Clinicorp, Inc., a publicly traded physician practice management company. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Chemring Group, PLC and Integrated Communication Network, Inc. Mr. McMillen was also the first selection by Buffalo in the 1974 National Basketball Association draft, subsequently playing for 11 years in the NBA. Mr. McMillen, an All-America basketball player at the University of Maryland, received a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Maryland, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and was the first student from this university to be awarded a Rhodes Scholarship, on which he received a Master of Arts degree in politics and philosophy from Oxford University in 1978.
